Hi sir if I convert to Lingayat, should I change my religion to Lingayat or change my caste to Lingayat(as in formal records Lingayat falls under Hinduism{Veerashaiva Lingayat- As mentioned in the religion and caste section respectfully})

If you convert then both should be changed to Lingayat. But as of now Lingayat is not treated as separate religion as per govt records. so now it will be part of Hinduism. But once Lingayat is recognized as a Religion, then you will be in that group. Thanks
