Sharanu, (Greetings) Thanks for visiting Lingayat Religion site!, We are glad to explore the Lingayat Religion details which is the first religion which is implemented equality in all human kind, started in 12th century in south India. Our aim is to provide quality and reliable resources related to Lingayat Religion. Myself I am Shivshanker Cheral from Bidar, Karnataka. I graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in Science from Gulbarga University Gulbarga and Master’s degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University Aurangabad.
In the 90’s I have attended the preachings of (Late) Lingyakya His Holiness Sadguru Lingananda Swamy and started thinking about the spiritual life and religion. Attended many workshops held at Bangalore, Kudala Sangama and other cities about Lingayat religion and got what is the real Lingayat what is practised is totally different. Looking for opportunity to spread about the real (correct) Lingayat religion. Through this medium trying to spread about Lingayat Religion.
I have noticed that there are many websites about the different religions and found rarely about our Lingayat Religion. Now we are in Information era so there is need about a site which will explore our religion. So I have decided to develop a site. In 2007 I have started collecting information about our religion, collected many books, studied periodicals, articles and started Google site (which is free site from Google, now I have closed this.).
When we were bit stable in terms of finance we registered our own domain name lingayatreligion.com and hosted the Lingayat Religion site, which was inaugurated on 4th August 2011 in 816th Basava Panchami program held at Town hall, Bangalore Karnataka. The program was headed by Her Holiness Maha Jagadguru Mate Mahadevi, Chairman Viswa Kalyana Mission, Bangalore. The site was inaugurated by Dr. J. S. Patil Vice Chancellor Karnataka State Law University Hubli. Sharana Shri Arvinda Jatti President Basava Samati Bangalore and Dr. D. Balaganapathi, Associate Proffessor Department of Comparative Philosophy and Religion, Kuppam University and other dignitaries were present at the function.
I wish to personally thank to Her Holiness Maha Jagadguru Mate Mahadevi, Chairman Viswa Kalyana Mission, Bangalore. Who given opportunity to inaugurate this site in 816th Basava Panchami program held at Town hall, Bangalore Karnataka. I have used most of the information from the books publsihed by, Vishwa Kalyana Mission, Rajajinagar Bangalore, and Basava Samiti Bangalore, I am thankful to these publishers.
To build this site I took help of Sharane Chetana Sangamad who helped me in terms of technical support to design the first version of our site. And also I took help of Sharana Nagshetty Shetkar for the few pages contents and materials from his book "Comparison of Lingayatism with Hinduism" I am thankful to their support. I also thank to Dr. N. G. Mahadevappa, Basava Shree Ramzan Darga for their articles and also thanks to all other writers whose articles were published in our site. Finally I thank to all those who helped me directly or indirectly to build this site.
