Are the teachers of dance and archery and the acrobat who has learnt acrobatics small?
Greatness means-
Qualities of head and heart, knowledge, good conduct, character and religion!

Shall I call the Veda great?
It preaches butchery
Shall I call the Shastra great/
It advocates the worship of Karma
Shall I call the Agama great?
It cannot see the god before it
Because you are not to be found
Through any of these
I saw you through the three-fold Daasoha

ಪ್ರಥಮಸ್ಥಲ ಸೂತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಲೆ, ದ್ವಿತೀಯಸ್ಥಲ ಜನನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಲೆ,
ತೃತೀಯಸ್ಥಲ ಮರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಲೆ, ಇಂತೀ ಹೊಲೆಯ ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಇಂಬಿಟ್ಟು
ಮುಂದಿನವರ ಹೊಲೆಯನರಸುವ
ಅನ್ಯಾಯಿಗಳ ಮಾತ ಕೇಳಲಾಗದು ಕೇಳಲಾಗದು ಕಾಣಾ,
ಕೂಡಲಚೆನ್ನಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ -3/1363 ^#
Translation:
The first stage of impurity is conception
The second stage of impurity is birth
The third stage of impurity is death
Do not listen to the words of those
Who, keeping in themselves such impurities,
Seek impurities in others, you see,

ನಿಮಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಲ್ಲೆವೆಂದೆಂಬಿರಿ.
ಹರಿ ಹತ್ತು ಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಜನ ಶಿರವರಿದಲ್ಲಿ
ಅಂದೆಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದವೋ ನಿಮ್ಮ ವೇದಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಾಗಮ ಪುರಾಣಂಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ.
ಚೆನ್ನಯ್ಯನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗವನೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು
ಕಂಕಣದ ಕೈಯ ಕಂಡು ಧನ್ಯರಾಗಿರೆ ನೀವು
ಮಾತಂಗಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಂದು, ಗಗನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾನವ ಮಾಡೆ
ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಧೋತ್ರಂಗಳು ಹಾರಿ ಹೋಗಲಾಗಿ
ನಮ್ಮ ಶ್ವಪಚಯ್ಯಗಳ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಕ್ಕುದ ಕೊಂಡು
ಧನ್ಯರಾಗರೆ ಸಾಮವೇದಿಗಳಂದು ?
ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಾಲ್ಕು ವೇದವನೋದದೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಕ್ತರ ಮನೆಯ `ಕಾಳನು?
ಇದು ಕಾರಣ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲಚೆನ್ನಸಂಗನ ಶರಣರ ಮುಂದೆ
ಈ ಒಡ್ಡುಗಳ ಮಾತ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ. -3/1309 ^#
Translation:
You say you know all among yourselves
Where did all your Veda, Agama, Shastra and Purana go,
When Hari came into the world ten times
And Aja was beheaded?
Be gratified by putting a piece of coin on
Chennayya’s palm
And be blessed with his auspicious hand
Did not Saamavedi feel gratified
When swacpachayya gave him a piece of cloth
As his clothes flew away when he went to bathe in the sky,
Fleeing from the Pariah children?
Does not Kala, a servant in our devotee’s house,
Read your four Vedas?
Therefore do not boast
In the presence of our Kudala Chennasanga’s Sharanas

ನಾಲ್ಕು ವೇದವನೋದಿದ ವಿಪ್ರರ ಮನೆಯ
ಎಣ್ಣೆಹೊಳಿಗೆ ತುಪ್ಪ ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಎಂದಡೆ
ನಮ್ಮ ಶಿವಭಕ್ತರ ಮನೆಯ ಶ್ವಾನ, ಮೂಸಿನೋಡಿ ಒಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋಯಿತ್ತು.
ಅದೆಂತೆಂದಡೆ:ಸಾಮವೇದಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರಲು ಶ್ವಪಚಯ್ಯಗಳು,
ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಕಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾದರಕ್ಷೆಯ ತೆರೆಯ ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದರಾಗಿ.
ಆ ಶ್ವಾನನೆ ಶುಚಿಯೆಂದು ಹಾಕಿದ ಮುಂಡಿಗೆಯ
ಆರಾದಡೂ ಎತ್ತುವಿರೊ, ಜಗದ ಸಂತೆಯ ಸೂಳೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿರಾ ?
ಜಗಕ್ಕೆ ಪಿತನೊಬ್ಬನೆ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಬ್ಬರೆಂದು ಬಗಳುವನ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ
ನಮ್ಮ ಪಡಿಹಾರಿ ಉತ್ತಣ್ಣಗಳ ಎಡದ ಪಾದರಕ್ಷೆಯ
ಅವನಂಗಳ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಕ್ಕುವೆನೆಂದ-ಕೂಡಲಚೆನ್ನಸಂಗಮದೇವ. -3/1305 ^#
Translation:
The do in our Shiva devotee’s house
Sniffs the delicious cake, sugar and ghee
In the house of the priests
Who have read the four Vedas?
And turned away without eating them
Because
Swavpachayya covered his food with his slippers
As Saamavedi was passing by
O the sons of a concubine of this world’s market,
Will any of you accept the challenge?
That only that dog is pure
Lord Kudala Chennasanga
Will put the left slipper of our Padihaari Uttanna
Into the mouth or those curs
Who bark that there are two fathers?
To this world instead of one

ದೀವಿಗೆಯೊಳಗಣ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಯ ದಿವಿಜರೆತ್ತಬಲ್ಲರು ?
ಮನೋಜಲ ಹರಿವಠಾವನು ಮನೋಹರನೆತ್ತ ಬಲ್ಲ?
ತನುವಿನ ಸ್ನೇಹಗುಣವ ದೇಹಿಕನೆತ್ತ ಬಲ್ಲ?
ಅಷ್ಟತನು ಅಣುವಿನ ಭೇದವನು
ಕೂಡಲಚೆನ್ನಸಂಗನಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಲಿಂಗಿಯೇ ಬಲ್ಲನು -3/470 ^#
Translation:
How do the priests know the light in a lamp?
The Lord of the mind alone knows
The track of aqua-vita in the mind
The God-embodied devotee alone knows
The body’s love of friendship
The Linga-embodied devotee alone knows
Through Kudala Chennasanga
The mystery of the eight-fold body-atom
