Dakkeya Bommanna was also known as Dakkeya Maarayya. He was a folk artiste. Before he became a sharana he carried the image of Maari on his head and begged alms. Veerashaivamrutha Mahaapurna says that he broke the pride of Shankaradaasimayya. 90 of his vahanas have been found with the signature phrase Kaalantaka Bhimeshwaralinga. He remembers Basava and other sharanas who shaped up his personality.
