If you cannot
close your ears and eyes
and chant Shiva mantra.
If you cannot do even that

[Vachana No.1341] [1]
Revanasiddhayyagala Punyastree Rekamma was wife of Revanasiddhayya who was a contemporary of Basavanna. As the legends go she used to make garlands and ofter them to Shivalinga. Just one vachana of her with the signature Sri Gurusiddehshwara is found.
Rekamma is the wife of Revanasiddhayya, who was a contemporary of Basavana. Regarding her austere devotion to Vrata, there is a story, occurring in Someşvara Purāna, Bhiravésvara Kãvyada Kathã Sũtra Ratnãkãra and Prabhudẽvara Purãna. It goes as follows:
Rekamma's Vrata was to offer to Šivalinga daily a garland with a red Campaka flower laid in the middle. One day, when the Campaka was not available, she took out a piece of her own flesh and put it in the middle of the garland meant for Sivaliiga. Only one Vachana of Rekamma is available, and it bears the signature ‘Shree Guru Siddhesvara'. Her Vachana expresses her deep disgust of such unrighteous persons as those who do not wear Linga; those who are breakers of observance and vow; those who are guilty of murdering Guru, Linga and Jangama, and those who censure Pädodaka, Prasāda, Vibhuti and Rudrāxi. Also she expresses her firm opinion regarding the punishment to be meted out to the killers of the spirit of Lingayat religion in clear terms:
“If it lies within one's power, one should chop off the heads of the killers of Guru, Linga and Jangama.” By expressing such views, Rekamma exhibits her unflinching faith in the observance of Ganacára.
