Turugaahi Raamanna (ತುರುಗಾಯಿ ರಾಮಣ್ಣ)

Just as various cattle are made to stand still,
with the help of a single stick, becoming one-minded,
making all kinds of distractions disappear
not being slaves to the desires of senses
and mingling with those who hold on to trividha;
making ones body unite with the Thing
is the path to know Gopatinaatha Vishveswaralinga. [Vachana No.1790] ^[1]

Turugaahi Raamanna was grazing the cattle of the sharanas. 46 of his vachans have been found with the signature Gopatinaatha Vishweshwaralinga. He uses the images culled from his occupation for his spiritual expression. Some vachanas are esoteric in nature. His vachana which indicates where Basavanna, Chennaasavanna, Prabhudeva, Akkamahadevi and other sharanas went after the Kalyaana revolution has historical importance.
